Aristofanes'in "Kadınlar Mecliste" isimli oyunu, Ecclesiazusae (Yunanca: Ἐκκλησιάζουσαι Ekklesiazousai; İngilizce: Women in Parliament, Assemblywomen), ilk olarak M.Ö 391 tarihinde sergilenmiştir.
Bu oyun, lideri Praxagora olan bir grup kadın ile ilgilidir. Liderlerinin öncülüğünde hareket ederek, kadınların yönetimi devralması için herkesi ikna etmeye karar verirler, çünkü bu işi yapagelen erkeklerden çok daha iyi yapabileceklerine inanmaktadırlar.
Kadınlar, erkek kılığına girerek gizlice Meclis’e giderler, ve ilgili kararnamenin önergesini sunduktan sonra kürsüde demeçler vererek savunmasını yaparlar. Denemedikleri tek yöntemin bu olduğunu vurgulayarak herkesi ikna ederler, ve nihayetinde yönetim oy birliğiyle kadınlara devredilir.
Yeni yasaya dayanarak, komünizm benzeri bir devlet yapısı kurarlar. Bu yeni sistemle birlikte, devlet her Atinalı vatandaşın tüm ihtiyaçlarını karşılamakla yükümlü hale getirilir. Eşitlik ilkesi her alanda ve herkesi kapsayacak şekilde uygulanmaya başlar. Ve hatta bu yasaya erkeklerin dilediği kadınla yatma hakkı bile dahildir. Fakat bu hak, öncelikle çirkin ve yaşlı olan bütün kadınlarla yatmak önkoşuluna bağlıdır. Aynı durum kadınlar için de geçerlidir, yani en çirkin ve yaşlı erkeklerden başlamak zorundadırlar.

Bu oyun, o dönemin kadınlarının yaygın olan görüşlerini temsil etmektedir. Aristofanes, bunla da yetinmeyerek, kadınların tarzlarıyla da dalga geçerek, tembellikleriyle ve çok içen halleriyle kocalarının hayatını cehenneme çevirdiklerini ima eder.
Zorunlu kılınan eşitlik yasası ise, politik bir beyan olmakla birlikte sosyal bir duruşa da sahiptir. Savaş bittikten sonra oligarşi hüküm sürmeye başlamıştır, bu sebeple de Atina’lılar demokrasi ve eşitlik konularında daha ısrarcı bir tutum sergilemeye başlamışlardır. Bu oyun, içinde abartılı anlatımlar içermesine rağmen, daha demokratik bir sisteme olan ihtiyacı çok net bir şekilde dile getirebilmiştir.
Oyun kurgusu, şahsi mülkiyetin kaldırılması ve aile yapısının kaldırılması gibi görüşlerle de mizahi bir dille dalga geçmektedir.
