Eski Komedya'nın en büyük yazarı olarak nitelendirilen Aristofanes'in  (Aristophanes) en güzel eserlerinden biridir "Kurbağalar" (Frogs). 

İlk olarak M.Ö. 405 tarihinde Lenaia’da düzenlenen Dionysus Festivali’nde sergilendiğinde, birincilik ödülünü kazanmıştır.

Eski Komedya'nın en büyük yazarı olarak nitelendirilen Aristofanes'in  (Aristophanes) en güzel eserlerinden biridir "Kurbağalar" (Frogs). 

İlk olarak M.Ö. 405 tarihinde Lenaia’da düzenlenen Dionysus Festivali’nde sergilendiğinde, birincilik ödülünü kazanmıştır.

Kurbağalar, tanrı Dionysus hakkındaki bir hikayeyi konu almaktadır. Dionysus, Atina tragedyasının düştüğü kötü durumdan hayıflanmaktadır, ve Hades'e (yeraltına) giderek Euripides'i ölüler diyarından geri getirmek ister. (Euripides, bu oyun sergilenmeden bir sene önce ölmüştü, MÖ 406). Beraberindeyse, ondan daha zeki ve daha cesur olan kölesi Ksantiyas'ı (Xanthias) da götürür. Başlangıç sahnesinde, Ksantiyas ve Dionysus bu oyun içerinde ne tarz şakalar yapabileceklerini münakaşa ederler. Oyunun ilk yarısı boyunca ise, Dionysus sürekli olarak aptalca denebilecek türden hatalar yapar, ve bu durum Ksantiyas'ı bu hataları düzeltmeye zorlar. Böylece, Dionysus hem aptal görünmekten kurtulur, hem de hiç bir şey olmamışçasına hatalar yapmaya devam eder.
