I’m Bevan Hanson, and a few years ago I traded city noise, cramped living, and sky-high utility bills for a small cabin in Montana and a life I could truly call my own. I didn’t have a big budget or fancy equipment—just a stubborn streak, a $2,000 starting fund, and the willingness to learn. I’ve burned dinners on a wood stove, wired solar panels backwards, and hauled more buckets of water than I can count. But every challenge taught me something about resilience, resourcefulness, and the deep satisfaction that comes from providing for yourself.
